Step 3: How to write content for your website

Together, we will learn how to target your crowd and write an appealing piece of content.

Why is content so important?

Content is what makes users to understand what your website is about. It is the foot in the door for them to buy your services.
You might have a sexy, well designed website - but if it will not answer the needs of people who have searched for it, they will bounce right out of it. The most important thing is figuring out and targeting who your crowd is. For example, if you own a software company and most of your clients are business, your site should look and feel like business environment. It should be speaking business language!
Business environment can also be delivered in several ways: Peaceful and fun approach vs. corporate and luxurious one.
Content is the most precious asset of your site. It delivers who you really are and what does your business main features and advantages.
It is not only about delivering the right text to your client, but also choosing the right style and photos which creates the perfect environment (we will talk about style further on). It is part of your branding procedure.
Content is also the most important feature for your marketing, especially SEO (search engine optimization).
Search engines, led by Google, likes web pages which contains a big amount of unique, quality content. It gives signal to google that you are giving an added value for your visitors.

How to write a winning marketing, search engine optimized content?

Well this might be the hardest question to answer of all. If you have never dealt with writing marketing materials we advise you to advise a pro. Writing skills are not something you could easily learn if you do not have any writing talent or high expression skills. Some even offer content marketing course to teach you specifically how to do it. However, if you are determined to success and you think that you are familiar with your customers needs or profile (and even emotions), it is possible to do it your self. It may take time and experience to know how.

Simbla is here to help you with some tips.

  1. Target your crowd - think what kind of people you are trying to reach and what would have like to see in your website/ what is important to them.
  2. Try to emphasis your advantages or uniquness as a business. Don't try to look like something that somebody has already done before. Try to deliver what your business is really about, to your customers. (Make a research about your competitors to figure out what they are already doing).
  3. Match your website content to your keywords. Try to search for trends that people are looking for and has a strong connection to what you do. Corporate your keywords among your content.
  4. Write from the heart... That's always true
  5. Try to be creative and unique. DO NOT COPY-PASTE from another successful source. (It could get you banned from Google).
  6. Make your website user friendly - let your users know where they are right from the first engagement.
  7. Choose photos that reflects who you are and what your business is providing. You can try using some free photo stocks. Be aware and read the license, so be sure what you are using is free for commercial use.
  8. Deliver your messages with more then one way. The use of diverse content such as videos, photos and other graphic elements tend to draw more of people attention. It is more likely your visitor will convert into a lead, plus Google will give you extra credit for it.
